Save the British Cherry!

Did you know that in last 50 years, Britain has lost 90% of its cherry orchards? That is why Saturday has been declared National Cherry Day to help save the British cherry!

FoodLoversBritain has recently launched CherryAid to promote British cherries. They aim to both preserve the last cherry orchards and promote the planting of new orchards. Take a look at the CherryAid page to find out everything you ever needed to know about cherries, from where to buy the homegrown variety to a calendar of all the cherry-related events taking place across the country.

To support this important initiative, we have added three delicious cherry, lactose free recipes to our Recipe Club. Try your hand at Soft Cherry Cake, a Cherry and Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie or the delicious Cherry & Raspberry Pavlova.

If you have a tasty cherry dish in your repertoire, please add it to our Recipe Club so that we can all give it a try. And don’t forget to bite into a British-grown cherry this Saturday on National Cherry Day!
