Motherly Love

Mums are special and ahead of Mothering Sunday this weekend, we want to celebrate mothers who help their children to live happily with lactose intolerance.

Susan Goater shared with us the battle she had in convincing doctors there was something wrong with her daughter Emily, who was unable to tolerate milk: “Together with the majority of mums, I have a built in belief that ‘mother knows best’. It took many years for doctors to finally realise that there was a problem, but many tests later we had the diagnosis – lactose intolerance.”

Abigail Andrews recently told us about how after undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy as a teenager, she developed lactose intolerance; “Luckily my mum saw a poster for Lactofree and introduced me to the products. Lactofree is a miracle for me as I am not keen on soya products. When the cheese came out I was so pleased as the soya version just isn’t as nice.”

Visit our Children’s Guide to find out more, and if you think your child may have lactose intolerance, why not speak to other parents in the Lactofree Forum, or submit your question. We’d love to hear from any other mums or dads about their experiences of parenting and lactose intolerance, email Lactofree@outsideline.co.uk.

Happy Mother’s Day from Lactofree.
