Eating out is fast becoming something for the lactose intolerant community to enjoy, not avoid, and we’re happy to let you know that our Restaurant Guide has ten fantastic new listings, most of which were recommended by members of our Facebook group within a recent competition.

Deborah Green loves the Fuel Cafe Bar in Manchester; ‘There’s lots of choice on the menu, tasty food and great atmosphere.’

Sonia Birkby told us about the Bateman Arms in Herefordshire: ‘We called beforehand to see if they had anything lactose free on the menu. They didn’t but were really willing to adapt something to my needs. When we got there the chef/manager came out to go through all of the ingredients to check it would all be ok for me. They couldn’t have been more helpful and it was really delicious too!’

Sara O’Connor is the manager of the Celtic Lodge Inn in Swansea: ‘We have lots of dairy free and lactose free items on our menu – our battered fish, certain sauces, ice cream, cream, custard, cakes, spread etc. – so if anything contains cream etc. we can just substitute it, we also do gluten free and diabetic things!’
