Lactofree Cheese is Launched!
We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the new Lactofree Cheese. Available now in Morrisons and Asda, Lactofree cheese allows you to enjoy the real taste of cheese again, without the digestive discomfort.
Lactofree cheese is made from natural cows’ milk, and so tastes and behaves just like normal cheese. It’s versatile for cooking and perfect for all those things you’ve missed – pizzas, sandwiches, toasties, pasta and jacket potatoes…Mmm!
Our resident chef Leslie Waters has added some cheesy recipes to the Recipe Club: on the new and improved Lactofree.co.uk.
Roasted Fish Pie with Cheese and Mustard Top makes a great warming and nutritional meal.
Lasagne is everyone’s favourite cheesy dish, perfect for all the family.
Sage, Lemon & Cheese Risotto with orange roasted root vegetables is a mouth-watering dish to celebrate the return of cheese!
There are many more delicious dishes for you to try and don’t forget to add your own favourite Lactofree recipes for others to try out at home.
If you have any problems locating the cheese or any of the Lactofree range, then please use our Stockist Request Service to submit a stockist request form and we will contact your local supermarket.
The wait is over for the lactose intolerant community – cheese is back on the menu!

Re: Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Dominic
I’m pleased to see this too and wish Lactofree every success with it, as well as all their other products. Just a shame my local Tesco hasn’t stocked Lactofree yoghurts just yet! I think it’s also important to point out thought that certain cheeses (particularly very mature ones) have very little lactose anyway. If you look at the carbohydrate on the labelling, you’ll see that this is around 0.1% in some cases – only around twice that of Lactofree milk (normal milk is around 6-8%).

For anyone in the Wolverhampton, you can buy the milk from Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. Morrisons in Bilston and Asda in Wolverhampton, and Oldbury sell the cheese.

Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Lucie
Found the cheese in Palmers Green Morrisons and bought half their stock - so glad there's finally some lactose-free cheese over here. Before i used to import it from Germany where "MinusL" provides lactose-free cheese, cream, butter, and anything you can think of - I'm more than glad Lactofree is extending its range over here!

As soon as I had the e-mail to say Lactofree Cheese had been launched I went straight to Asda and bought some. Cheese on Toast with Worcestershire Sauce – Absolutely beautiful, so so missed.

Re: Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – maria
Am I missing something here – as your product description says, bacteria added in the cheese-making process use up the lactose. A look at the carbohydrate content on cheese labels will show that there is really no carbohydrate in hard cheeses – only in very fresh soft cheese like ricotta or mozzarella, so I don’t really see the need for a ‘lactose-free’ cheese.

Re: Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Amy
Hello there, this is fabulous news that finally all lactose intolerant people like myself can eat cheese! I have bought a block and eaten most of it, and now am feeling the same bloating and stomach churning sensation that I have when I eat lactose products. Can you tell me whether there really is NO lactose in this cheesex Also, just a suggestion that many many people out there still do not know of this cheese’s existence, +other products. A hard marketing drive would really bring you the exposure that you deserve!

Lactofree Cheese – I am going to search the world to find it!!! That soya cheese is foul! But I am confused on the other comments people have made about the carbohydratex Until I realised that I had a problem with lactose, I mostly ate very mature cheddar and would be doubled up in pain. When I stopped eating cheese – this pain went and comes back if try to eat it.

Re: Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Lactofree Support
Clare, Lactofree is available in selected Tesco stores in Northern Ireland. Amy, Lactofree is filtered gently to the closest detection of lactose and all ingredients of our prodects are found within the section ‘What is Lactofree’.

Re: Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Jeff
For those in south warwickshire, Morrisons in Stratford have it as do Sainsbury’s in Leamington. My wife is loving having cheese she’s had cheese on toast or pizza virtually every day since we could get some. Shame the blocks are small, we’re buying 4 packs a week. PS Sainsbury’s is currently doing 50p off

Hi Sue, I’m pleased to say that the soft white cheese is vegetarian. Unfortunately, the hard cheese is not vegetarian, but we will pass on to the development team that this would be appealing product for you.

I have just tried your new soft cheese & have had a bad reaction to it putting me in the loo all morning, i am also a coeliac.

Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Lactofree Support
Hi Ivor, we carry out rigorous scientific testing using the most accurate UKAS–accredited tests available, which enable us to detect lactose at the trace level of 0.03%. At this detection level our tests show that there is no lactose present in Lactofree. If you are experiencing symptoms of lactose intolerance with soft white cheese, it could be for a number of reasons, such as sensitivity to either cow's milk protein or possibly even galactose. If you continue to suffer these symptoms, we would recommend you seek the advice of your doctor who may refer you to a gastroenterologist.

Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Rebecca Osmond
I have just tried your lacto free cheese product and found it dissapointing. It lacked floavour and tasted a bit like processed cheese (like cheese strings). Are you working on the texture of this productx I am sure it would be ok on cheese on toast or pizza but i wouldnt have it uncooked.

Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Lactofree Support
Hi Rebecca, sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the semi hard cheese as much as you'd hoped to. We've had some really positive feedback as the cheese is very versatile as you say. It can be used on cheese on toast, pizzas and in many other dishes. Why not check out our recipe club to get more ideas on all the ways to use it: http://www.lactofree.co.uk/community/recipe-club/

I am confused. I understand the lactose has been removed, but is this product dairy freex Thanks…
22/10/2009
Re: Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – THOMAS
Having read the packet again, I know now that it isn’t dairy free. I think this is why some people are saying they are ill after eating it.
26/10/2009
Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Lactofree Support
Hi Thomas, Lactofree is real dairy simply with the lactose gently filtered out for those who are lactose intolerant to enjoy the real taste of dairy without the digestive discomfort they experience from eating lactose. Lactofree is not suitable for those looking for a dairy free diet.

Lactofree Cheese is Launched! – Marion Perry
Have you tried doing shopping on linex I live in Cheshire area and agree it's very hit and miss. Even those that apparently stock it are always out of stock when I am trying to get it. I now pick up 8 lots whenever I see it - hard when you've a smallish fridge!! I noticed some of the online supermarkets are suppose to have it, but haven't tried getting it this way myself. I also get a small reaction with the lacto free products, but find it's ok if I take the lactaze enzyme with it - if you haven't heard of this you can get it from one or 2 outlets. It's also helpful if you aren't sure if what you are eating is lacto free or not! Hope this helps Maz
