Festive Over Indulgence May Not Be To Blame
It’s the New Year and you’re feeling slightly overindulged as the button-popping, tight clothing nightmare begins. But don’t be too quick to blame the festive excess, if you are feeling bloated and out of sorts, your body may be trying to tell you something!
If you feel bloated and are affected by nausea, cramps, wind or abdominal pain after drinking milk or eating dairy products, you may have lactose intolerance – a common condition estimated to affect up to 15% of the UK population.
The culprit is lactose – a natural sugar present in all dairy products that some people find difficult to digest. Yet the importance placed on milk as an important source of our daily calcium intake means that many are unaware that it is making them ill, or instead they cut it out completely.
Lactofree is the perfect solution. It starts off as semi-skimmed cows’ milk – a gentle filtration process and the addition of the lactase enzyme ensures that more than 99.95% of the lactose is removed but leaves the taste and nutritional benefits of farm fresh milk behind, which ensures that Lactofree is a delicious and healthy alternative to regular cows’ milk.
It’s easy to find out if you have lactose intolerance by trying our simple two-week Elimination Diet. Phase one involves removing lactose completely from your diet and in phase two you gradually re-introduce lactose back into your diet to determine your tolerance level – everybody is different.
