Ask the Experts
We’re sharing questions and answers from our first Expert’s Question Time event that took place earlier in November.
During our first live web chat with paediatrician, Dr Adam Fox, dietitian Sian Porter and Lactofree’s brand manager Samantha Peel spent the evening with our community answering questions about lactose intolerance.
You all had many questions about both lactose intolerance and the Lactofree range.
One web chat participant, David asked if Lactofree milk was guaranteed not to cause symptoms of lactose intolerance. Dr Fox reassured David that Lactofree is completely lactose free to the levels that are detectable in the current tests available (0.03%). As he says: “Nobody should be so ‘sensitive’ to lactose that they would react to Lactofree. If you are having symptoms with Lactofree then it is most likely due to a milk allergy (due to the milk protein) and not to lactose intolerance.”
Kathleen, another web chat participant also asked if Lactofree products can simply be substituted in recipes. Lactofree’s brand manager, Samantha Peel happily let Kathleen know that Lactofree is actually a great product to use in normal recipes! “The Lactofree range is made with real dairy, just with the lactose removed, so it tastes and acts just like real dairy. You can cook all of your favourite recipes, without the symptoms and your friends and family will enjoy them too!”
