Advice from our Advisory Board
Our Experts Question Time event last year helped many of you find the answers to your lactose intolerance questions.
During our live web chat with two members of our Advisory Board, paediatrician Dr Adam Fox and dietitian Sian Porter, we received many questions, even some creamy ones!
One of our web chat participants asked if clotted cream contains less lactose due to how it is processed. However, Sian had to dispel that myth and remind everyone that all cream products contain lactose. But she did offer some good news! “Depending on the severity of your lactose intolerance, you could possibly have the occasional cream tea but don’t forget scones are made with milk too!”
And as Dr Fox reminds us, lactose intolerance is not dangerous, so you could experiment with different foods to see what affects you and to determine your tolerance level. Find out more about determining your tolerance levels on our Elimination Diet page.
