I'll Call You...? Maybe Not!

I was only diagnosed with lactose intolerance about two months ago and well, the sequence of events that led to its discovery are somewhat hilarious/embarrassing – depending on how you look at it!

I’ve never liked milk, cream, yogurt, ice cream, chocolate – ANY dairy really. Except cheese. My first true love!

Doctors later told me that my dislike for these items was because my body knew I couldn’t digest them, but my mind never connected my discomfort with lactose. I always felt ill after eating cheese, but thanks to the amount I’d go through, I assumed it was just because I’m a greedy cheddar monster!

Well, I was on a third date with a guy, who is a chef, and he decided he wanted to make me steak and chips. Sounds tasty with a delicious cream and peppercorn sauce…

About an hour after eating, we were watching a film, and my stomach started gargling and he is shooting me some very strange looks. Trying to get comfy, I shifted about and let rip… really loud. There is no disguising it. The look on his face was horrified as I tried to mutter something about squeaky sofa frames. But it gets worse…

Halfway through a somewhat steamy scene, I get up to leg it to the toilet, but i have no idea where it is in his house and promptly vomit all over the landing. And a little on him. Which he then had to clean, as my stomach cramps were so bad that I could barely stand. Needless to say there never was a fourth date.

At first it was hard, having to read the labels on EVERYTHING, never just being able to steal a cheeky chocolate off my little sister, or always having to eat sorbet for dessert.

At one point, I drunkenly sobbed in a kebab shop because I wanted pizza and it would never be… until I discovered Lactofree! (that came out a little cheesier than I intended… no pun intended!)

So, this is just a massive thank you to the Lactofree Team and hopefully, some light relief and reassurance for all us lactose intolerants out there!

Big Love!

Try a good plain chocolate, which does not contain milk. It tastes nicer than milk chocolate and you won't need to eat as much to feel satisfied.
