Asthma Led Me To Lactofree

I was diagnosed as lactose intolerant about 6 years ago, though I had suspected I had a problem for a long while before then. I had hayfever from nine years old and during my 30s I developed mild asthma. It had always been something I could control fairly easily with antihistamines. Then during my late 40s I started to do some running and found that I was wheezing more.

The wheezing also seemed to be related to eating yogurts and cream or butter. My symptoms were not of stomach upsets and pain, but of chestiness and wheezing, which became quite severe soon after eating or drinking milky products. Eventually I decided to have a food tolerance test done, which came up with a lactose intolerance. So I cut out all foods containing milk products and promptly lost about half a stone in weight.

At the time I introduced soya milk into my diet, but found that that has limitations. Then I discovered Lactofree, so can now make things like quiches which can be enjoyed by all the family.

The one thing I do still miss is toffee!
