Re-energised with Lactofree!

I’m 42 and finally, after after years and years of stomach ache, wind and generally just not feeling ‘right’, I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance just 18 months ago.
As a baby, my mum said that I couldn’t ever keep any milk down and then at six years old our GP told her that my bloated tummy was down to me talking whilst I was eating! At 16 I was rushed to hospital with the most horrendous stomach ache, which turned out to be wind. I have laughed about that for years without ever knowing what it really was!
My symptoms continually got worse and after years of traipsing back and forth to my GP, I put my bloated stomach down to ‘life”’ and tried to just get on with things. But at work I was always tired; I never had the energy that other people seemed to have. After the birth of my two sons the tiredness grew, but I still had no idea what was causing it. By this time the hayfever, headaches, eczema, tiredness, constant bloated tummy and tummy ache were a part of my life.
But then we went on holiday for half term and while I ate all the food in the hotel restaurant, I didn’t have any milk. It was only when we got home that the dreaded stomach ache took hold. The only thing I’d had since returning home was about six cups of tea. Almost immediately I realised that milk must be the culprit.
I stumbled across the Lactofree website and as I sat and read some of the stories, They could have been written by me – the symptoms were identical. After an elimination diet and a visit to my GP, it was confirmed to be lactose intolerance. At first I felt upset at the thought of all the food I was going to have to avoid, but gradually I’ve substituted all the food I would have normally eaten with alternatives like Lactofree.
All my symptoms have disappeared even the hayfever and eczema! I have, for the first time in years, got loads of energy and people have commented on how much better my hair and skin look.
Thanks for a great website!

I feel awful and suffering greatly due to eating ewe's cheese (which I suspect has got cow's milk in - despite not saying so on the label). I normally OK with my goat and ewe's cheese and of course my LactoFree chese.
