Eliminating the Lactose Works!

At the age of 18 months, our daughter began saying she had tummy aches and was having messy nappies. We had her checked out, and everything was fine, so it was thought that some kind of intolerance was probably the cause.
She loved her cheese, cups of milky tea and milkshakes and we noticed that by cutting these out, the symptoms stopped. Soya was our first switch… It was okay from the sense that it did the trick, but it was hard to get her to eat as it is an acquired taste!
We found Lactofree products and started using them for Imogen, and because it is barely different to normal milk, we could use for all the family cooking, like in sauces for lasagne. Lactofree milk was rapidly replacing the milk we had in full stop – and now it is all we have in the house!
Because Imogen and her brother Lachlan now have exactly the same milk and cheese (the cheese is great for kids and melts nicely for pizza) there is no issue with sharing food.
Cutting back on lactose has actually ended up having a positive effect on us all. I had itchy patches on my leg that would drive me mad… they have since disappeared.
I would advise anybody with uncomfortable symptoms to try eliminating lactose from their diet – it is worth it!
