Being diagnosed changed my life - for the better!
by Alison Hoban.

I found out that I was lactose intolerance two years ago and my son also has the condition. I was not allergic to anything until that point, and my lactose intolerance suddenly appeared, triggered by means unknown. All of a sudden, whenever I had something that contained dairy or more specifically, lactose, my stomach would cramp up immediately and I would start feeling nauseous.
After consulting my GP (as recommended by my brother) I was referred to a gastroenterologist, who had me take a hydrogen breath test. It was painless and simple – and confirmed I had lactose intolerance.
I would seriously like to tell people that if they have any concerns referring to their diet, please go and see your GP. I did and it has changed my life for the better.
