Lactofree improved my life

In May 2008, aged 57, I started having severe diarrhoea and lost over a stone in weight. I also found myself feeling lethargic and generally unwell. My son is a Coeliac, so I went straight to my doctor wondering if I was suffering from the same condition. He did a number of blood tests, followed by a gastroscopy, which confirmed that I was also a Coeliac, and that was most likely the cause of my symptoms.
I quickly discovered that even on a gluten free diet, my problems became more severe when I drank milk. For six months, I stuck to a gluten and lactose free diet. After this time, I started to feel better in myself, so started re-introducing limited amounts of dairy back into my diet. I stuck to small doses, like butter in my jacket potato, or milk in a cup of tea.
I went for a follow up gastroscopy in March 2009 and was shocked to find that my body showed no signs of repair at all. I was referred to a dietician, who told me that lactose intolerance could have a similar effect on the body, and suggested that I stick to a strict gluten and lactose free diet until my next assessment.
Luckily, I discovered Lactofree cheese and milk, which I am using until my next appointment. I’m so grateful, as soya milk is disgusting! Thank you Lactofree for making my life better!

Re: Lactofree improved my life – Madeline Lindsay
Hello. I was very interested reading your story as I have been having really bad diarrhea now for well over a year but thought it was everything else but lacotose, but also I am wheat intolerant never had any test but sorted it out myself. I stopped eating having dairy and wheat and feel like a new person. I am going to the Dr today to see if I can get some test just to be sure. I would really like to here more from you to see how you are getting on, and maybe get some ideas on foods etc. Bye Maddie
