My two year old daughter Robin had bowel problems from birth.

I took her to the local doctor many times and was told I was being over-dramatic. In desperation, I took Robin to A&E and was told she had Gastroenteritis. This happened on several occasions until just before her 2nd birthday, when I chatted with a mum at Robin’s creche who suggested it could be lactose intolerance.
Robin and I returned to the hospital to see a specialist. At this time she was losing so much weight and looked very sick. When the doctor saw her she was very worried and Robin was kept in hospital for a week. Results confirmed that Robin was lactose intolerant.
A year later, Robin is doing so much better. She has put on weight and looks a lot healthier. My advice to anyone who is experiencing symptoms or has a child with symptoms is to go to the hospital and be tested straight away.
