When my son was six weeks old he was diagnosed with a cows' milk allergy.

He was very unsettled, would scream for hours and was very difficult to calm or comfort. And his distressed state was worse just after feeding him milk, when he would also get a very red and uneven rash on his face.
Within four days of giving him the milk formula Neocate, he was more settled and the rash slowly began to disappear. At six months, I started weaning him but have found very little information available regarding dairy free weaning and recipe tips etc. Although the product availability in prepared baby food is limited, he has continued to grow and gain weight but I’m always looking for new and varied foods for him to try.
When I recently saw the Lactofree TV advert I couldn’t wait to try the products as I know he struggles to break down the proteins in lactose and I had been advised by his dietician to introduce dairy products into his diet to see if he could tolerate them.
So far, we’ve tried the Lactofree strawberry yogurt which he has enjoyed with no symptoms and I’ve also given him a little bit of cheese to try which he loved! I will continue to increase the amounts I give him and see how we go – I feel hopeful and positive that he will grow out of the dairy issues and in the meantime, Lactofree is certainly making both of our lives a little easier!
