Being lactose intolerant was very difficult as a teenager.

When I was 15, I starting having problems with my stomach. I would get cramps and be ill most evenings. I went to the doctors a number of times but they could never say what was wrong with me. I started to lose weight dramatically and dropped three dress sizes in three months. At this point, my mum stepped in and looked up my symptoms on the internet. My granddad had similar symptoms after having a gastric bug, and we decided we could lactose intolerant. I went back to my doctor and he agreed I should try a lactose free diet and the symptoms stopped completely.
I’m now 23 and for a number of years I found it hard to get used to not being able to eat what I wanted but it’s getting easier. I originally replaced dairy with soy based products but I never really liked the taste and Lactofree enables me to enjoy cups of tea that taste the way the should, as well as cereal, yogurts and now cheese that melts properly!
So anyone who has just found out that they are lactose intolerant should not be worried about missing out!
